The remnant of Israel: a seed?
[Isa 37:31 NKJV] 31 And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah Shall again take root downward, And bear fruit upward.[Isa 10:20, 22 NKJV] 20 And it shall come to pass in that day [That] the remnant of Israel, And such as have escaped of the house of Jacob, Will never again depend on him who defeated them, But will depend on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. … 22 For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, A remnant of them will return;
A remnant: the sons?
[Rom 9:25-26 NKJV] 25 As He says also in Hosea: “I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved.” 26 “And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, ‘You [are] not My people,’ There they shall be called sons of the living God.” (Hos.1:10)
Consider the Remnant
[Rom 11:3-5 NKJV] 3 “LORD, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? 4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
What is the remnant?
- Remnant – A cord, a string, something hanging over, hanging down, redundant. Looks un-necessary, but the ‘extra’ wrapped around allows the cord or string to be useful. Also ensures the tightness of the cord or string.
- From original word: redundant, exceeding over, beyond measures
- God always measures with ‘exceeding over’: the remnant. No matter if all is lost, the excess remains.
- Remnant are the strategically chosen ones, the elect. Seems they are part of the original purpose of God’s preparation.
Moses’ qualifications
[Heb 11:24-26 NKJV] 24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
The significant ones become insignificant when they choose FAITH. The least travelled path is sometimes the ONLY way of victory.
God is not ashamed to be called their God
[Heb 11:33-34 NKJV] 33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
[Heb 11:39-40 NKJV] 39 And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, 40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
Meet the Remnant
[1Co 1:27-29 TPT] 27 But God chose those whom the world considers foolish to shame those who think they are wise, and God chose the puny and powerless to shame the high and mighty. He chose the lowly, the laughable in the world’s eyes—nobodies—so that he would shame the somebodies. For he chose what is regarded as insignificant in order to supersede what is regarded as prominent, so that there would be no place for prideful boasting in God’s presence.
The Father’s perspective: Victory!
Instead of looking at this process from our point of view (loss, destruction) we can look at it from God’s point of view: excitement that the remnant is showing up.[Rom 11:11-12, 15 NKJV] 11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation [has come] to the Gentiles. 12 Now if their fall [is] riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness! … 15 For if their being cast away [is] the reconciling of the world, what [will] their acceptance [be] but life from the dead?
